As the summer season winds down, I plan to enjoy as many oysters and cool glasses of rosé as possible. With one oyster, I am instantly transported to an oceanside retreat with salty breezes and waves crashing…ok, maybe not that extreme, but you get the point.
Oysters are one of my favorite foods, but at $3+ a pop, this so-called seaside sensation does not come cheaply; so, unless I want to lighten my wallet every time I have the craving for oysters (which, I will admit, is fairly often), I’ve become quite the bargain-hunter when it comes to $1 oyster specials around Boston. I decided to round up my favorite spots for “happy hour” oysters in Boston, so you can enjoy a little raw bar action, too!

This Italian eatery in the South End’s SoWa district offers $1 oysters on its patio, which boasts a bright red container bar and super comfortable, outdoor furniture. Located on the lower level of the Loews Boston Hotel, Precinct is a great option for after work oysters, cocktails, and…cheese! Yes, beyond $1 oysters, the restaurant also offers a cheese happy hour where you can score one of their cheese boards for 1/2 off. Since this time period is between their brunch and dinner service, the menu is limited to raw bar items only. This Parisian-style bistro and wine bar is the perfect place to enjoy oysters after work or during a mid-week shopping spree on Newbury Street. The restaurant offers weekday $1 oysters from 2pm-6pm, so it’s ideal for an afternoon pick-me-up. One of my favorite aspects of this bustling Boylston Street restaurant is its extensive wine list.
