Eyelet dresses are one of my summer wardrobe staples.
There’s just something so feminine and eye-catching (no pun intended!) about eyelet patterns that I seriously can’t help myself from adding new pieces to my closet whenever I see them. This summer alone, I’ve already bought three different eyelet dresses, and while each is unique, there is definitely a common theme of a soft eyelet pattern incorporated on all of them. What can I say? I know what I like!
During our recent trip to Nantucket, we spent an afternoon enjoying one of my favorite parts of the island, Siasconset. Knowing that we would do equal parts exploring and relaxing, I chose to wear this A-line embroidered eyelet dress to stay cool and comfortable while still looking put together.
While all of Nantucket is unbelievably beautiful, the charming village of ‘Sconset may be loveliest. Originally settled as a fishing village in the 17th century and then later, a summer destination for Broadway actors at the turn of the 20th century, Siaconset has an interesting history that spans over four hundred years!
My favorite time to visit Siasconset is during the month of July when the roses that cover the historic homes in the village are in full bloom. A midsummer walk through Siasconset is truly a magical sight, and despite seeing it year after year, I am always in awe of the beauty! When we visit Siasconset, we typically take a stroll through the village center, enjoy sandwiches at Claudette’s, and then head over to the Bluff Walk. The Bluff Walk is a peaceful cliffside walk that cuts behind some of Nantucket’s most gorgeous oceanfront homes, providing a scenic path to Sankaty Head Lighthouse. While not clearly marked, it’s easiest to start the Bluff Walk near 21 Front Street and then make your way past the dreamy hydrangea-lined backyards.
To close out the perfect day in Siasconset, I love enjoying an oceanfront drink at the Summer House Beachside Bistro, followed by a peaceful al fresco dinner in the flower-filled garden of The Chanticleer. The Chanticleer, which first opened as a tea room in the early 1900s, is one of my favorite restaurants on Nantucket. The romance is unmatched if you can snag a table in the garden on a summer night!
The A-Lyst for Summer Eyelet Dresses
J.Crew Short-Sleeve A-Line Dress
This is the perfect summer dress for work and play! While it’s become my go-to for important work Zoom calls, I really love dressing it up with a fun bag for weekend exploring, too! The silhouette is classic yet still youthful, and you can completely switch up the look of it by accessorizing it in different ways. Summer dresses that you can easily throw on and still look put together are a win-win in my book.
Kate Spade Clover Eyelet Dress
The feminine detail of this dress’s puff sleeves, ruffle, and flower eyelet pattern immediately drew me in! The color is outstanding and eye-catching, while the eyelet design is really well-done. I’ve been wearing this piece for our date nights when we dine on the patios of local restaurants. I always receive compliments on this pretty summer frock.
Payal Jain Fallon Eyelet Maxi Dress
Even though my husband says this dress reminds him of a nightgown (ugh, men!), I can’t help but wear it over and over. Girly with its ruffles and eyelet pattern, and a bit boho because of its loose, unstructured nature, this dress is a total mix of styles, but I adore it. It is seriously so easy to wear and on hot summer days, it’s the only thing I want to put on!
Tuckernuck China Blue Porcelain Dress
The pattern and color of this dress make me swoon! I love the maxi length paired with the collared button-down style, and I think the combination works so well with this dress’s preppy summer color palette. I just discovered the brand/site Tuckernuck this summer and fell in love with their merchandise. This one is next on my wish list!
Parker Fleur Eyelet Mini Dress
This Parker mini dress is a great option if you are looking for a more casual piece that still has some interest to it. The subtle eyelet pattern paired with the delicate ruffle adds the perfect touch of playful detail. Not to mention, the light blue hue is lovely!
